GH 9/2: Ay yi yi, But This Storyline Isn't Rome SO GET ON WITH IT ALREADY
Anyone wanna play $25,000 Pyramid with me?
The OJ Simpson trial, the search for Jimmy Hoffa, Moby Dick, Anything by Ayn Rand, PBS pledge drives, listening to an Apple zealot proselytize.
Jason's Penthouse: Carly is in a tizzy, demanding that Jason tell her where Sonny is. While she talks, he slowly, slowly closes his eyes and then slowly, slowly opens them, as if he's hoping if he tries hard enough he can blink her away like Jeanie. Diane tells him to go ahead and break the bad news (the bad news being that Sonny is still a wreckless idiot and has gone to Rome to hand out with Brenda, who for some reason is an international superstar, so it's like being on the run for the law but hanging out with Paris Gaga.)
Rome: Brenda comes home from a farmer's market and is disturbingly excited about a pear. I love fruit fresh from an orchard too, but I don't believe Brenda eats, so I don't get what she likes about it. Adrienne is a stick in the mud and says going out in public could have cost her her life.
Villa: Sonny is staying in a villa that has a butler who wears a tux and mickey mouse gloves. Sonny mumbles that he's checking up on an old friend.
Credits
Loft: Michael tries to break the news to Kristina that he doesn't want to go back to school, but she interrupts him by talking about how fun it will be to be outcasts together. He tries again, but Dante shows up. He says he's sorry, but Sonny is as guilty as sin. Sin is all "hey, sometimes I'm not so bad!"
Johnny's room: Johnny repeats to Walsh that Sonny shot him. Olivia rushes in and begs Johnny to tell the truth. JOhn is bummed that she's taking Sonny's side. She says she's on the side of peace. blah blah, who cares.
Jason's Penthouse: Jason says he' waiting for confirmation and will fill her in. He starts to guide her towards the door, but she slithers away and sits, saying she'll wait. Diane starts to tell a story about some aubergine pumps she once drove threw a rain storm to buy. Diane and Pam from True Blood would get along swimmingly, I should think. Assuming Pam didn't eat her.
Villa: Sonny mumbles to a concierge about helping him find Brenda.
Roman Hotel: Ade continues to warn Brenda that she's taking risks by being out in public. Brenda says she's not going to hide in her hotel room. Ade says the security honcho doesn't want her to go anywhere alone, and doesn't think she's safe in her hotel. Adrienne wants them to go back to the states. Because the bad guy is allergic to airplanes and can't also go across the ocean?
Commercials
Wyndermere: Nik asks a maid to draw Brooke a bath and offers Brooke tea. Brooke asks why he's being so nice to someone he hardly knows. He answers by giving a non answer. Maid shows up to take Brooke to her bath.
Loft: The same ol' rigamarole whereby Michael endlessly empathizes with Sonny's crappy choices, and Kristina is endlessly bitter that his kids always have to suffer for Sonny's crappy choices, and then someone else being a Sonny apologist and saying that Sonny loves them. Kristina says she's decided love isn't enough, sometimes you have to actually be there for your kids. Michael thinks Sonny is innocent. Dante wants to believe it, but the facts don't support it. Kristina doesn't really care one way or the other b/c Sonny's pattern of behavior is still to put himself in situations whereby shooting people in the chest is an option. Michael asks Dante to keep looking for Johnny's gun, and says he just wants to know the truth one way or another.
Jason's Penthouse: Jason takes 85 years to finally tell Carly that he thinks Sonny went after Brenda.
Marble Slab: blah blah, Adrienne thinks Brenda is in danger, and The Balkan gets mentioned again some more. She wants Brenda to take a break from being an uber celebrity and lay low for awhile. As if that would stop Perez from drawing penises on her if he's got a bug. Adrienne wants her to go home to Port Charles. Brenda chuckles at the notion.
Villa: Sonny looks at a photo of brenda in a magazine and remembers being trapped in the catacombs back when she wasn't so pointy looking, and he was all smooth and soft looking. He recalls saying that no one but him knows how beautiful she really is, and if they had been able to grow old together, he'd still think she was perfect.
Commercials
Wyndermere: Brooke has changed, and Nik finishes up a phone call in his living room/parlor/office/dining hall/ballroom. They muse about the creepy decor. He asks why she was wandering around in the rain. She says she got screwed over by Carly.
Jason's Penthouse: Jason sits calmly while Carly flitters about the house, ranting that Sonny is such a selfish idiot and instead of doing something for his kids, he leaves for "that spoiled little drama queen." She also calls Brenda his "favorite little toy." Well, she does squeak when squeezed.
Villa: Concierge tells Sonny about Brenda's secret hideaway. It looked like a hotel suite to me, but what do I know. Sonny asks for discretion.
Marble Slab: Brenda becomes tearful and says Cartulo and Murphy are her life, not Port Charles. She cries a little and says she made a choice to be happy now. It's funny to watch her cry and say "I'm starting to feel happy now." Adrienne concedes and makes her promise to not ditch security or going out alone. Brenda agrees b/c anything is better than going back to Port Charles to be jilted again. Ade wants her to at least consider going back to PC if anything bad happens. Brenda doesn't answer. Ade leaves, and she looks for something to stare at pensively. She settles on the scrap of paper with Sonny's number on it.
Commercials
Wyndermere: Brooke has apparently told Nik about her Spy Hooker gig. Brooke says Loo did the same thing to Geogie and Dillon, and she got pregnant. Did she? Looloo got pregnant? That's weird. Did she give the baby up for adoption? It would seem like this would have been mentioned before now. Brook leaves out the part where she was going to steal $50k from Edward and says she had nowhere else to go but Kelly's. Nik says he may have a job for her. Ew, why do I worry it's of the blow or hand variety?
Jason's Penthouse: Carly blathers on for a bit. Jason asks her to promise not to do anything crazy. She leaves, and Jason closes his eyes, so wishing he could just get one night's sleep.
Loft: Dante and Loo gossip about Sonny. Blah blah, Dante wants to believe Sonny, but he can't. He's going to keep at the investigation because Michael asked him to.
Johnny's Room: Walsh continues to question Johnny. He says Mike refused him service at Kelly's, and then he went to his apartment by way of Baker Street. Walsh is dubious that Johnny would walk down the street near Scenes from an Italian Restaurant without carrying a gun. Johnny says his apartment is near there as well. Walsh asks about the truce. Johnny says he doesn't want Sonny's kids to be collateral damage. Walsh says that her experience is the more confident a person is about their answers, the more likely they are lying. Johnny says it's clear she's doing everything she can to prove Sonny's innocent.
Commercials
Loft: I don't care about Dante and Looloo talking about Sonnysonnysonny.
Wyndermere: Nik says he was invited to some sort of party, and he's been encouraged to be a date. He says he'll pay her to be her date for the weekend. I've seen this movie, I think. Brooke says he has the wrong impression b/c she's not a Spy Hooker. He says she did take money from Carly to sleep with Dante, but that's not what he's asking. He just needs company for the weekend.
Jason's Penthouse: Sam hobbles down the stairs, and they sit on the sofa and whisper to each other, and it's not worth my effort to try to hear it.
Kelly's: Jax meets Carly. They talk briefly about their children b/c it's not like parents every spend more than a minute or two of their lives thinking about their kids. Jax says he's happy to be there for Michael as well as Morgan. Carly then gets all riddle-y and says that Kelly's was special to Jax and Brenda. It was? I mean, I'm sure they went there...but....Everyone goes there. It was probably the only restaurant in town back when Brenda and Jax were an item. Carly talks in riddles about Sonny until Jax asks, sort of bored "what are you saying, he went to see her?"
Marble Slab: Brenda sits in her weirdly darkened living room and looks on her laptop. She's writing an email to Sonny. His email address is M.Corinthos@Corinthos.com But that's clearly just his business address. That's so lazy that they didn't bother to come up with a fake website for the coffee business. I'm not expecting the writers to get Slap Bet creative, but at least pick a website name that isn't a real company that has nothing to do with coffee or murder. But let's listen in on Brenda's latest memory, shall we? Brenda had some weird, long hair at the time. There must have been a ball going on. I hope that wasn't here everyday hair. They are having a fight about jealousy. Sonny is so cute and young here. hubba hubba. Brenda tamaracries until I want to sock her. she tells him she's never given him cause to be jealous. He won't talk. because you just don't have to when you're that hot, I guess. He sort of wanders around the room and winces when she cries. I would seriously do a body shot of tequila off of Sony's neck is how cute he is back then. Brenda throws a hissy fit. Like a totally embarassing tantrum. It's sort of halfassed and awkward and ends with her grabbing scissors and randomly snipping off a few chunks of hair. Oh, so it was a hideous wig, and it was after this she got her rachel.
Marble Slab: brenda gets a call from someone and says of course she wants to see them. She says they'll meet at the Garden Entrance. meanwhile, at the Garden Entrance, Sonny has taken a seat at the cafe and holds up his magazine and points to Brenda, as if he's ordering her off a menu.
Commercials
Loft: Loo asks Dante if he'll want a relationship with Sonny if it was self defense. Dante won't answer this and says he's only interested in finding the truth.
Johnny's Room: Michael visits Johnny. Um, John, I'd keep a firm grip on all your pillows. John says he's happy to be alive. Michael says Johnny has had a lot of close calls lately. Michael says Johnny said he owed him after Michael shoved him out of the way at the drive by. Michael has come to collect and wants to know if Johnny had a gun like Sonny said he did.
Kelly's: Carly wants to know if Jax is going to save Brenda from Sonny again.
Garden Entrance: Brenda tiptoes around excitedly, looking for whoever called her. Sonny remains seated. She doesn't seem to see him. Or maybe she does, but doesn't recognize the busted, greasy version of his former self.
